Basement Walls

Finally it feels like we've turned the corner and can start to see some real progress. In a couple more weeks we should see the whole form of the house and possibly have the house under roof.

Finally a slab

Finally, after two weeks of scheduling and heat delays, we now have a basement slab. The crew worked from 7 am to 7 pm to get it done yesterday, August 16th. Now, we can hopefully make up some lost time during the framing.

Sawmill (part 1)

Today, I took a quick trip down to the R & R Sawmill in California, Missouri in hopes of finding a good material source for posts and beams. Also, we are wanting to use a local Eastern Red Cedar for the exterior siding on our house. This stained cedar siding will sit atop a stone ledge that rings the base of our house.

I am not sure what to say about this one. I think it is safe to assume this tumbler grinds the bark off the logs.
